Buttons's Bed

Buttons's doggie bed is the perfect size for her. She's an exact fit in there. Her bed would be too big for me. And a doggie bigger than Buttons sure wouldn't fit. But it's just the right size for my sister!

Sometimes it's even hard to see her in there 'cause her bed is the same color as her fur. Mom says she's camouflaged. I'm not sure what that means, but I'm guessing it means "cute."

Lazy Doggie Saturday

I was a little worried last night 'cause Buttons went and hid under Mom's bed again when it was night-night time. I figured that Buttons was going to keep us awake all night long again. But Buttons didn't stay under Mom's bed for very long, and eventually she actually went night-night in her own doggie bed! That's right...Buttons went night-night last night! She didn't stay up all night squeaking toys and stuff. Mom says that maybe Buttons is more comfortable in her new house now.

Buttons and I let Mom sleep in this morning, too. We didn't wake her up super early like yesterday. I decided that today should be a lazy day for us. So here's how I'm spending the morning...

Buttons was snoozing on the couch, too, until Mom took that picture of me. Then Buttons woke up. Mom tried to scoot her over, too, 'cause she was afraid Buttons was going to fall off the couch. (Her booty was starting to hang over the side.)

Buttons didn't stay on the couch after she woke up. You know what Buttons does when she's awake...squeaky TOY time!

Buttons Has Arrived!

Mom and I went to pick up my new sister Buttons last night! We drove a ways in our car and we picked up Mom's friend Ronda and her doggie Molly. Then all four of us went to go meet Shawnee, Shawnee's Mom, and Buttons! It was a ways farther in our car, but we got there.

I was pretty scared at first 'cause there were a LOT of doggies and a couple of 'em were barking. It was really super cold, too. Shawnee was shivering, so Shawnee's Mom put her back in their car so she'd be warm. Poor Shawnee, though...her Mom gave Buttons and I some chicky stuff while Shawnee was locked in the car. We ate it allll gone before we thought about her not getting any. Oops! Sorry, Shawnee!

Here's a pic of Mom holding my new sissy and me! Buttons and I were both a little scared, so this was the only way to get a picture of both of us together when we first met each other.

We put all of Buttons's toys in our car and put her beds in there, too. Then we said bye-bye to Shawnee and Shawnee's Mom and we started to drive back home. We dropped Ronda and Molly off at their house, then we drove to our house.

Buttons investigated everything when we got home. She helped Mom unpack her toys and stuff, too. I supervised, of course.

Buttons played with all of the toys last night. I think she had fun. Shawnee's Mom packed a can of yummy, yummy stuff called "Thanksgiving Dinner" for Buttons and I to share. We chowed down on that stuff. It was SO good!

Here's a pic of Buttons and I hanging out on the couch last night.

Buttons didn't want to go night-night last night, though. She was up all night long. Mom said that she was probably just nervous. What a night! Buttons even went hiding under Mom's bed. So silly! Mom and I napped a little today to try to recover.

This afternoon I showed Buttons our normal route for our walks. That was fun. Mom said that tomorrow we'll show Buttons the pond. Now it's time for me to nap again, but Buttons is back to digging in the toy box! She sure loves those toys.

Buttons Is Getting Ready, Too

I've shown you all the ways that Mom and I are getting ready for my new sister Buttons, but did you know that Buttons is getting ready for us, too? Today, she got a bath. I hate those things! Poor Buttons! Oh, wait a minute...I hope Mom doesn't plan on making ME take a bath before I meet HER!

And Buttons and Shawnee had to start packing their suitcase for their long drive, too! And with Buttons moving here, that meant even more stuff to pack.

Shawnee wrote about their trip on her blog. Check it out!

New Stuff

Mom got some new stuff today to help us get ready for Buttons. In the mail, we got a princess ID tag for Buttons. It matches my princess tag. Mine says "Lexi" on the back and Buttons's says "Buttons" on it! Here's what they look like. Mine's attached to my necklace. We don't have a necklace for Buttons yet 'cause Buttons has that with her at her foster home.

Mom also got a toy box tonight for all of our doggie toys! I inspected it. It'll work o.k. for me, I think. Mom says it's just like the one that Buttons is using now, only with shorter sides. That's good, though, 'cause Buttons and I are little doggies.

Toy box checks out o.k. in my opinion...

And here's the new office that Mom got for my new sister. One little problem though...Mom couldn't figure out how to set it up. Heck, she had trouble just getting it out of the box! It was pretty funny. She finally gave up. Don't worry, Buttons...Mom'll get it set up and then put lots of comfy blankies in there.

I think we're just about ready for my new sister now!

Getting Ready for Buttons

Mom and I were really, super busy this weekend. My new sister Buttons is coming to live with us in just a few days, so we had to get ready!

We made room for Buttons's bed in the bedroom. Mom moved her dresser so that we could put the doggie beds in the same spot. When she moved the dresser, Mom also found my secret pukey spot. Oops. I wasn't planning on her finding that. She didn't get mad, though, 'cause she has no idea when I got sick and puked behind the dresser. I was sneaky!

Anyway, just look at all the room we've got now for a bed for Buttons by my bed! (Don't worry...Mom cleaned up the pukey.)

And in our office, Mom moved all of the plants out of the way and put the plant table in a different spot. Now there's room for an office for Buttons right beside my office! Mom still needs to get one of those, though. We'll both be able to see the TV, too. (I hope Mom gets that big TV from Grandma soon 'cause our little one is going bad!) See all of the room we have now for an office for Buttons?

I was a very good helper for Mom while she was moving all of that furniture and cleaning. See how I helped?

We're almost ready for my new sissy! Mom just needs to get a little office for Buttons and a toy box.

Only four sleeps left until Buttons comes to live with us!

Toy Preparations

My new sister Buttons absolutely LOVES doggie toys. So this weekend Mom got all of my toys out and we inspected them. We wanted to be sure that they were all ready for when Buttons comes to live with us.

Do you think I have enough toys?

We sorted through the toys and we found some of them that needed surgeries. They had spots where their stuffings were coming out. So, Mom got out the sterile draping and we had toy surgery on my teddy bear, ice cream cone, and bunny rabbit.

The other toys and I watched from a ways back. We weren't sterile so we couldn't help with the surgeries.

After the surgeries, Mom decided that all of my toys needed to have baths. They were dirty from me playing with them. So, into the toy bathtub they went...

I wonder if squeaky toys hate baths as much as I do...

Then Mom and I had to wait for them to get washed. Seemed like it took forever! Here's how I helped...

After the toys got their baths in the washer, Mom learned two things...
  1. The little crab toy needed surgery before the bath but we missed it. Emergency surgery took place and the toy survived. We even got the squeaker back in there.
  2. Don't ever, ever wash the pink rope toy with the rest of the toys! It left pink strings stuck to ALL of the toys. What a mess!
When the toys were done in the washer, Mom put them in the dryer to get all of the water out of them.

Ta dah! Clean, fixed-up toys for me to share with Buttons! (Those ones in the back don't have chicky pox...they were just next to the pink rope that got all over stuff in the washer.)

Now Mom needs to get us a toy box...

Sadly, some of the toys weren't in very good shape and surgery wouldn't fix them. R.I.P. hippo, horsie, piggie, orange/green doggie bone, and pink doggie bone.

Buttons Went to the Vet

Mom said that Buttons went to the vet today. You know what her foster mom did? She made Buttons go pee-pee in a cup! Mom does that to me all the time. How rude! Poor Buttons.

Anyway, Mom said that Buttons has bacteria buggies in her pee-pee. She's gotta take antibiotic pills to get rid of the bacteria buggies. And she has other little buggies in her eyes so she has stuff for those, too.

Want to hear the strange part? Mom made me pee-pee in a cup yesterday and we found out that I'VE got bacteria buggies in my pee-pee right now, too! So my new sister and I both have the bacteria buggies at the same time and we're both taking pills for them. How strange is that?!

Buttons will be done with her pills when Mom and I get to meet her next week. My vet is making me take extra pills, though, so I'll still be on them then. Darn it!

Shawnee sent me some pictures of Buttons from her trip today. Here's a picture of Buttons's insides. Cool, huh? The vet said this picture shows that Buttons doesn't have any icky bladder stones or any problems with Arthur Itis (that guy makes my legs hurt).

Here's Buttons with her foster vet during her visit. Everyone at the foster vet's office had to say "bye bye" to Buttons when she left 'cause she won't go there anymore. She's gonna go to the same vet as me. Mom has even already gotten Buttons listed in our vet's computer.

And this picture is of Buttons in the car on the way to see the vet. Isn't she one of the cutest doggies you've ever seen? She's practically as cute as me! He he he.

I went to the groomer today (yuck!) so I'm at "optimum cuteness" as Mom calls it. You know what Mom did, though? She made an appointment for Buttons with our groomer. So the next time I have to go there, Buttons will go, too. I don't think we should tell Buttons that...unless she likes going to the groomer...

I'm Getting a Sister

Mom told me tonight that I'm gonna be a sister! You know my friend Shawnee that I've mentioned before? Mom and I are adopting Shawnee's foster sister Buttons! We get to meet her next week. Shawnee lives far, far away in New Jersey, but she's gonna come this way to visit her grandma and she'll bring Buttons with her!

Buttons is a Shih Tzu like me and she's almost my exact same age. Her birthday is September 18 and mine is June 13. I'm older...but only by a couple of months. Cool, huh?

Anyway, Mom talked to Shawnee's Mom, and they think that Buttons and I are a lot like each other and that we'll get along good. So, we're adopting her. Buttons has had some bad stuff in her life, but that all ends now. (Click here to read her story.) Mom and I will be her forever-and-ever family!

Want to see how cute Buttons is? Shawnee posted some pictures of her and I just stole them to post here, too!

She fell asleep with her head in a toy in this picture!

Buttons celebrating her 9th birthday at her foster home in New Jersey...

Buttons is a toy fanatic. She LOVES toys! Shawnee posted a couple of videos of Buttons playing, too...
